Roasio has no centre: it is a scattered comune of five hamlets, with the town hall at San Maurizio, and one of them, Castelletto Villa, is an exclave you can only reach through another municipality. The coat of arms counts them: five golden sceptres for the five hamlets, a band for the Giara stream and a vine with two bunches.
Underground lie clay, kaolin and limestone: first the quarries and the kilns, then a village of builders who took the trade abroad and who have an emigrants' museum here. On 9 August 1944 twenty-two men were shot in the square or hanged from the town hall balconies, the worst Nazi-fascist massacre in the Vercelli area.
