The patron of Varallo is the Crowned Virgin, and the town's holiday is the Monday after Pentecost: a movable date tied to Easter, falling on a different day each year between late May and early June.
The tradition the people of Varallo feel most lies at the other end of the year: the Carnival, which here runs from Epiphany all the way to Ash Wednesday.
