The patron saint of Mola di Bari is Our Lady of Sorrows, celebrated on the second Sunday of September.
The town also lives intensely through the Holy Week rites: from the church dedicated to the Holy Trinity, the evening procession of the Dead Christ sets out on Good Friday, during which the friars of Saint Francis of Assisi sing a cappella the ancient Latin hymn Vexilla Regis, while on Holy Monday the procession of the Sacred Mysteries is held. A crypt, once used for burials, was converted into an oratory in 1744 to hold a reliquary with wooden fragments traditionally attributed to the Cross of Christ, donated to the Chapter of Mola in 1713.
