The patron saint of Canosa di Puglia is Saint Sabinus, celebrated on 9 February in the basilica dedicated to him.
The town also lives the Holy Week rites with great popular participation: on the Friday before Palm Sunday, the Procession of Our Lady of Sorrows is held, known as the «Desolata», opening the celebrations and drawing a very large number of the faithful, especially women dressed and veiled in black, while the Stabat Mater is sung. Canosa also holds important testimonies of its Roman past, including Trajan's Arch and the Varrese Hypogeum, as well as the castle and the Daunian necropolis of Pietra Caduta.
