The patron of Ovodda is Saint George the Martyr, celebrated on 23 April, to whom the Chiesa di San Giorgio is dedicated.
Ovodda's carnival is celebrated on Ash Wednesday, the «Meuris de Lèssia»: its main character is Don Conte, a puppet that undergoes a night-time «trial» and is then burned, followed by a procession of «sos Intintos», men with faces smeared with soot, while the «Intinghidores» blacken the faces of those they meet with burnt cork dust; in autumn the town takes part in Autunno in Barbagia with «Cortes Apertas».
