The patron of San Gavino Monreale is Saint Clare, celebrated on 12 August in the Church of Santa Chiara.
On 13 August, as part of the celebrations, the local tourist association organises the Emigrant's Day, dedicated to the town's people who emigrated from San Gavino for any reason. The town, among Sardinia's leading saffron producers, hosts in November the Saffron Fair, among the most important at regional level dedicated to this product; on 15 May, a tradition dating back at least to the late 1600s, Saint Isidore, protector of farmers, is also celebrated, with a parade of horses and carts.
