chiesa di San Nicolò La Latina

📍 Sciacca, Sicily · 50/100

On Piazza San Nicolò, the small church of San Nicolò La Latina dates from the twelfth century, from Sciacca's Norman age. Its front is decorated in Arab-Norman style, and its apse closely recalls those of the Basilica del Soccorso and the nearby Santa Maria della Raccomandata.

It is one of those essential witnesses that tell the Norman Sciacca — when the town was the centre of a rich county — better than many larger and later buildings.
