Resuttano celebrates the Holy Crucifix on 4 May; the town was founded on 7 June 1627 by Giuseppe di Napoli, duke of Campobello, who bought the barony on behalf of his son Gerolamo, giving rise to a settlement of Madonie-origin people.

The patron of Resuttano is the Holy Crucifix, celebrated on 4 May; the town also venerates Saint Joseph as protector, on 19 March.

The place name appears to derive from Rahàl-Suptanum, a fortified farm located downstream from the current town along the Imera river, whose ruins are identified with today's Castello di Resuttano. Over the centuries the fief belonged to the Ventimiglia family, then, in 1625, to Giovanbattista Romano Colonna and Ventimiglia Maniaci, until Giuseppe di Napoli, duke of Campobello and lord of Alessandria della Rocca, bought it on behalf of his son Gerolamo. Thus, on 7 June 1627, the Resuttano settlement was born: the population, of Madonie origin, initially settled around the Di Napoli farmstead, and on 13 February 1628 the town's first church was blessed by Don Paulo Calabria.
