Holy Week in Bronte builds towards Good Friday, when the confraternities take to the streets together: veiled girls, the pious women and the twelve apostles lead the way, Saint Michael the Archangel walks ahead of Christ in chains, and the statues of the mysteries follow. The moment everyone waits for comes when Christ at the Column, carried in the arms of barefoot bearers, meets the Crucifix as the crowd sings the Stabat Mater.
The days before are filled with the Passio Christi, a living Way of the Cross staged by the parishes and the Forty Hours' devotion; in 2025 the programme published by the town hall ran from 12 to 19 April.
