In 1955, Milo separated from neighboring Sant'Alfio to become an independent municipality. Today, this village of 1,065 residents sits within the protected boundaries of Mount Etna Regional Park in the Metropolitan City of Catania.
Located 25 kilometers north of Catania and 160 kilometers southeast of Palermo, Milo borders Zafferana Etnea and Giarre. Its position on the mountain's eastern slope provides direct access to Etna's volcanic landscapes.
