The patroness of Assoro is Saint Petronilla, celebrated on 31 May with the town's patronal feast. On Good Friday the procession of the Christ takes place, called «u Munti», carried on shoulders by the confraternity of the «Nudi», sixty-four barefoot faithful, followed by the confraternity of Mary Most Holy of Sorrows: the ceremony lasts from nine in the evening until four in the morning. On Holy Wednesday, instead, a procession of over fifty children carries the symbols of the Passion, the cross, the nails, the lance and the crown of thorns, from the church of the Holy Spirit to the mother church.
Assoro also preserves the basilica of San Leone, the castle overlooking the town, the Palazzo dei Principi di Valguarnera, and the church of San Giorgio.
