The patron saint of Mazzarrà Sant'Andrea is Our Lady of Grace, venerated in the church dedicated to her and celebrated every year from Friday to the last Sunday of August. The feast begins fifteen days earlier with the religious rite known in local dialect as «a scinduta da Madonna», the day the statue is placed on a litter; nine days before the feast, the novena in honour of the Madonna then begins. On Sunday at six in the evening, at the second hammer strike and the ritual cry «Evviva la gran Signora Maria Santissima delle Grazie! E chiamamula mi nd'aiuta!!» (Long live the great Lady, Mary Most Holy of Graces! Let us call on her for help!), the bearers carry the litter out of the mother church amid the faithful, who pay homage by waving white handkerchiefs: each time the litter stops or moves on, the hammer sounds twice.
Of the town's once-sumptuous castle, only ruins remain today, overgrown with weeds and brambles, near the current sports field. Among the local craft traditions is nursery gardening, which in 1889 found a place even in Paris, coinciding with the inauguration of the Eiffel Tower.
