In the church of the Collegio di Maria, inside an urn, lies the body of Saint Fortunata, virgin and martyr: it is the town's dearest treasure. The church dates from 1745, the mother church dedicated to Saint Rosalia from 1764: in those years the town was filling up with churches.
Baucina is half an hour from Palermo, below the heights that fall within the reserve of Pizzo Cane, Pizzo Trigna and Grotta Mazzamuto: woods, rock faces and caves a step from the houses. In 2013 an archaeological museum opened with what has come out of the local ground, and in the public garden is the Parco delle Rimembranze, with the war memorial of 1925. There are 2,014 residents.
