The patron saint of Casteldaccia is Saint Joseph, celebrated on 19 March.
The modern town, originally called Villa di Castellazzo and then Castel d'Accia, was officially founded in 1737, when Ignazio Vincenzo Abate e Mortillaro, Marquis of Lungarini, bought from the priest Giuseppe Marziano the fief known as «Castellazzo» and obtained the licentia populandi to turn it into a settlement built around the pre-existing Torre di Accia, already fortified between the 16th and 17th centuries. In the 19th century the town experienced remarkable economic growth thanks to Corvo Vini, founded in 1824 by Prince Giuseppe Alliata di Villafranca, Duke of Salaparuta, one of the first examples of Sicilian wine enterprise to cross regional borders; the company was soon based in the complex of the Torre con Baglio, today known as the Torre Duca di Salaparuta.
