The patron saint of Castronovo di Sicilia is Saint Vitalis, abbot, celebrated on 9 March, with the church dedicated to him on the hill that bears his name. The church of San Vitale Abate was built in the 13th century over the remains of the royal chapel of the old Chiaramonte castle, commissioned by the Great Count Roger after the 1077 liberation; on the same hill stands also the church of the Madonna Addolorata, which originally, under the title of Madonna dell'Udienza, was itself the town's mother church, before the title was transferred to its current seat.
The Norman castle of Castronovo, built by the Great Count Roger after the 1077 liberation and enlarged in 1375 by Manfredi Chiaramonte, count of Castronovo, was later transformed into the cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity. The municipal territory also preserves a Byzantine settlement, under the protection of the Departmental Forestry Inspectorate of Palermo, and stretches as far as the Monte Carcaci nature reserve, in the Sicani mountains.
