The patroness of Cerda is the Virgin Mary of Sorrows, whose feast falls on 16 August and is celebrated with solemn religious and civic events. Among the most cherished celebrations is also the Good Friday procession, which draws numerous faithful every year.
Particularly venerated in Cerda is the Madonna della Catena, to whom the sanctuary in the Baiata district is dedicated: the building, built in 1915 and inaugurated the following year by Cardinal Alessandro Lualdi, then archbishop of Palermo, together with mayor Luigi Russo, is the destination of the annual pilgrimage held on the last Sunday of August. The town also preserves the mother church of Maria Santissima Immacolata and the rectory church of Maria Santissima Annunziata.
