The town's old cannolo fair, dormant for twelve years, came back in 2024 and has since grown into the Cannolo Fest. The 2026 edition ran on 16 and 17 May along Viale 8 Marzo, with the cannolo of Piana degli Albanesi front and centre: a crisp shell filled with ricotta made from sheep's milk by nearby dairies.
The programme mixes tastings, cooking shows, stalls from all over the island, music and talks, bringing together the village's pastry makers and national guests — in 2026 the most awaited name was Turkish actor Can Yaman. Sheep farming and cheesemaking are still among the main trades in the surrounding countryside, which is where the ricotta comes from.
