In 1927 prefect Mori came to inaugurate the new water main and the war memorial, a bronze by Antonio Ugo that the people of Valledolmo still call u Pupu. The figure was naked, and the scandal was such that they covered it at once with veils.

The town sits at the foot of the Madonie, and the name says what it was: the valley of the elm. It was born in 1650, when Giuseppe Cutelli obtained licence to settle his lands; his son Antonio, the sixth baron, was killed on 5 August 1711 by his vassal Pietro Corvo. In front of u Pupu, at Easter, the Madonna of Sorrows and the risen Christ run towards each other. There are 3,747 residents.
