Valledolmo derives its identity from the Sicilian phrase vaḍḍi 'i l'urmu, meaning Valley of the Elm. With a population of 3,747, the municipality is situated on the slopes of Pizzo Sampieri at the southwestern edge of the Madonie range, 60 kilometres southeast of Palermo.
The town shares borders with the neighbouring municipalities of Alia, Sclafani Bagni, and Vallelunga Pratameno, defining a clear geographic link within the interior of the Palermo metropolitan area.
