The patron's feast day in Bondone falls on 8 September, when the Catholic liturgy celebrates the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary; by tradition the eve is also celebrated. It is an important occasion for the population, because in those days the charcoal burners and their families, scattered over the mountains since spring to produce charcoal, come back to the village to meet and celebrate.
A vow made by the survivors to the Blessed Virgin, depicted in Bondone by a wooden statue of the Madonna with the child in her arms ('La Madono dal Bambì en bròs'), established that 9 September of every year would be a feast day, with a solemn procession carrying the statue as far as the locality of Plos. The vow was made official in the parish archives on 9 September 1855. So in Bondone from 7 to 9 September the religious observances are celebrated together with the memory of the charcoal burners and their families returning to the village for a few days.
