Saint Anastasia, patron of a town born from the decline of Etruscan Populonia
📅 Every year, on 8 May
Piombino celebrates Saint Anastasia on 8 May, remembered by an old convent named after her; the town's very name seems to derive from «Populino», little Populonia, the ancient Etruscan city whose decline, after centuries of raids, gave rise to the present town facing the channel separating it from Elba.
