Feast of Saints Gervasius and Protasius
📅 Every year, on 19 June
On 19 June Città della Pieve celebrates Saints Gervasius and Protasius, whom Perugino painted in the co-cathedral holding the oriflammes of the old civic arms.
The vicolo Baciadonne is one of the narrowest streets in Italy, and the name was given to it by the townspeople and their wit. It seems to have been born of a quarrel between neighbours; at its far end the view opens all at once over the Chiana and Monte Cetona.
The town is built seventy per cent in bare brick, and it keeps four works by Perugino, among them the Adoration of the Magi of 1504, in the oratory of Santa Maria dei Bianchi. Palazzo della Corgna was designed by Galeazzo Alessi for the marquis Ascanio della Corgna. Since 1973, in August, the 7,803 residents split into three terzieri for the Palio, which ends with an archery contest.
