The patron of Magione is Saint Clement, celebrated on 23 November.
The town is dominated by the castle of the Knights of Malta, further fortified in the 15th century: in 1502 it was the scene of the so-called Diet of La Magione, a conspiracy hatched by several Umbrian and Marche lords against Cesare Borgia, which ended tragically with the killing of most of the conspirators at Senigallia and Città della Pieve. In later centuries the castle also hosted illustrious figures such as Pope Benedict XIV and Pope Pius VII. Among the other churches in the area are that of San Giovanni Battista, built by the Knights of Malta in 1571, destroyed by bombing in the Second World War and rebuilt after the war with frescoes by Gerardo Dottori, and that of Santa Maria delle Grazie, from between the 13th and 14th centuries, which holds the Virgo lactans fresco of 1371.
