The patron saint of Castelfranco Veneto is Saint Liberalis, celebrated on 27 April in the town's cathedral, dedicated to Santa Maria Assunta and San Liberale.
Birthplace of the painter Giorgione, Castelfranco holds his old house, Casa Giorgione, while a chapel of the cathedral holds the famous Castelfranco Altarpiece, one of the artist's best-known works. On the second weekend of September, the palio and the Festa dei borghi take place, commemorating the building of the castle in 1195, with events in period costume spanning the 11th to 14th centuries.
