The old name was Ronco Frontulo, that is, a place lived in inside the wood, cleared just enough. It first appears in 1075, in a bequest: a Lombard named Turingio gives the monastery of San Candido, up in the Pusteria, the church of Ronco Frontulo and four farms. On 2 January 1266 the inhabitants met in assembly and decided for themselves whom to give themselves to: Treviso.
Two kilometres north, under a twelve-metre waterfall, stands the Molinetto della Croda, a sixteenth-century mill turned house-museum. On 2 August 2014, during a village feast, the Lierza torrent came down without warning and killed four people right there. On the hills around they make marzemino passito: an island inside the kingdom of prosecco.
