The patron of Garda is the Assumption of Mary, celebrated on 15 August, Ferragosto, which is also the town's patronal feast.
On that date the Palio dell'Assunta is held: at night, eight fibreglass boats, representing the eight historic districts, compete rowing in the Venetian style; the prize is the statue of the Virgin, which the winning district keeps for a year. Between June and August, the Regata delle Bisse is also raced, organized by the Lega Bisse del Garda with the traditional rowing boats. The town also holds Palazzo Fregoso and the Clock Tower.
