The patron of Oppido Lucano is Saint Anthony of Padua, celebrated on 13 June in the church and convent dedicated to him. The convent was founded in 1482 at the initiative of the town's lords, Francesco and Caterina Zurlo, and holds a cycle of wall paintings from 1558 by Giovanni Todisco, depicting episodes from the Old and New Testaments, together with a polyptych and a triptych made in 1570 by Antonio Stabile of Potenza.
The municipal territory is also home to the sanctuary of the Madonna del Belvedere, another of the places of devotion that dot the landscape of Oppido Lucano alongside the castle and the old hamlet of San Gilio.
