On May 17, 1871, the settlement of Panicocoli officially changed its name to Villaricca. Situated roughly 10 kilometers northwest of Naples, the municipality counts 30,052 residents today.
While firmly residential, the town claims an important spot in regional culture. It is the birthplace of Sergio Bruni, a highly influential Neapolitan singer, alongside the venerable physician and priest Vittorio De Marino.
