Vezzi Portio

Province: Savona · Region: Liguria · Population: 810 · Postal code: 17028

Vezzi and Portio spent centuries on different sides of a border: Vezzi belonged to the castellany of Quiliano and passed to Savona as early as 1142, Portio was in the marquisate of Finale and went to Spain, then to Genoa. The royal decree that made them one municipality dates from 1871, and the seat was put in a third village, Magnone.

In the oratory of San Giorgio there is a museum of beekeeping: more than two thousand pieces, hives, tools and instruments for honey. Around it lies the basin of the upper Sciusa valley between Spotorno and Finale, with Mediterranean scrub and cork oaks. The population is 810.

The Most Holy Saviour, patron of a municipality of scattered hamlets

📅 Every year, on 6 August

Vezzi Portio celebrates the Most Holy Saviour on 6 August; his church stands in the main hamlet of Magnone, while the rest of this small Ligurian municipality is divided into other hamlets, each with its own church: Portio, San Giorgio and San Filippo.
