In 1424, according to some historians, it was in the castle of Annicco that Cabrino Fondulo was arrested, on the orders of Filippo Maria Visconti; from here they took him to Milan, where he was beheaded on 12 February 1425. Of the castle only ruins are left, and on the ruins, in 1878, they built the town hall: today the comune sits where the career of one of the most unscrupulous men of fifteenth-century Lombardy came to an end.

The comune, though, had been working at Annicco for centuries. Already in the sixteenth century the assembly of the inhabitants elected twelve men every year, and among them four deputies who set and shared out the taxes, dealt with current affairs and looked after the billeting of soldiers; there were a consul, a chancellor who lived in the village and kept the public writings, an archive in a room of its own and a treasurer appointed by public auction, in office for three years. In the middle of the eighteenth century the village was a fief of the marquis Solza of Bergamo, to whom, however, the community paid not a penny.
