The patron saint of Baranello is Saint Michael the Archangel, celebrated on 8 May, in the Neoclassical church dedicated to him. The municipal coat of arms depicts two hands clasped as a sign of loyalty, harmony and strength: the image is drawn from an ancient Oscan-Samnite funerary stele, depicting a married couple united in the dextrarum iunctio, the ceremonial handshake spouses performed at their wedding.
The town also preserves the archaeological excavations of the Samnite settlement and the Castello di Baranello. The former town hall houses the civic museum named after the Baranello-born architect Giuseppe Barone, who assembled its fine collection: among the works on display are a painting by Giuseppe Palizzi and one attributed to Jusepe de Ribera.
