The patron saint of Campochiaro is Saint Mark, celebrated on 25 April.
The town, which gives its name to the Guardiaregia-Campochiaro WWF nature oasis, has yielded one of Molise's most astonishing archaeological finds: excavations carried out in 1987 uncovered tombs containing horse and rider, with rich grave goods of Central Asian origin, studied by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. It has been hypothesised that these were Hunnic horsemen who, defeated and scattered after their loss to the Romans, were recruited as mercenaries by the Lombards.
The town also preserves a medieval tower, once the tallest of a walled stronghold, now restored and open to visitors, and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
