Saint Roch, patron of a town rebuilt by Slavic refugees fleeing the Ottomans
📅 Every year, on 16 August
Palata celebrates Saint Roch on 16 August, in his church, once part of a Franciscan complex destroyed by the 1556 Turkish invasion; the town was later rebuilt by Slavic populations who took refuge in Molise fleeing the Ottomans.
