For the church of the Assunta the bishop of Larino sent for Ferdinando Sanfelice, one of the most sought-after architects in Naples: first stone on 6 May 1731, work finished by 1744, bell tower excepted. The paintings of Paolo Gamba, an eighteenth-century painter born in the village, hang instead in the church of the Immacolata.
Ripabottoni sits along the Celano-Foggia drove road, and was once called Ripafrancone after its feudal lords; their palace still keeps the battered walls of the medieval castle. From here, in the early twentieth century, Arturo Giovannitti left for the United States, where he became a name in the labour movement. The village now has 544 residents.
