The patron saint of Torella del Sannio is Saint Clement the martyr, celebrated on 15 October.
The town is built across two hills: the Colle, which represents the newer part of the settlement, and the Ciglione, where the oldest part developed, dominated by the castle and the church. The fortress took shape as a proper stronghold in the 13th century thanks to the Angevins, when the parish church of San Nicola was also built; in the 15th century it was expanded by the Aragonese, and over the following centuries passed to several barons, including Ferrante d'Aragona, the Francone, the Caracciolo and, in the 18th century, the Ciamarra family. The castle, with an irregular rectangular plan and brick walls, preserves three round towers with battlements and conical roofs; part of the structure, which had fallen into semi-ruin, has been restored in recent times by descendants of the families who divided its ownership in the 19th century.
