The patron saint of Pozzilli is Saint Lawrence the martyr, whose church, in Piazza Seggio, inside the village, is the town's main church. His feast, celebrated on 9 and 10 August together with that of Saint Anthony of Padua, with masses and processions accompanied by the town band, is the main feast of the town.
In the small church dedicated to Saint Lawrence, visitors can see the medieval apse, depicting the twelve apostles with Jesus, some frescoes of modest quality, and the fine wooden statue of the saint, carved from walnut wood. The territory's bond with Saint Lawrence goes back centuries: the hamlet of Santa Maria Oliveto is said to have been founded in 839 by colonists from the Sulmona area, settled there by the abbey of San Vincenzo al Volturno around a church dedicated to him. In Norman times, in the locality of Arcora, at the foot of Monte Stingone, one of the small Benedictine settlements marking the route between the great abbeys of Montecassino and San Vincenzo al Volturno also arose, of which the ruins of some arches remain.
