The patron saint of Montaquila is Saint Roch, celebrated on 16 August.
The town's main church is that of Santa Maria Assunta, of medieval origin: already rebuilt in 1663, it was later damaged by the 1805 earthquake and had to be demolished in 1850, after some poorly conducted restorations had compromised its structure. It was finally rebuilt in 1888, with a Neoclassical facade featuring an architrave inspired by Greek temples, while the rest of the exterior is in rough stone: the single-nave interior preserves relics from the Baroque era, including some gold ornaments. The town also preserves the nearby Castello di Roccaravindola, with its fortified village, and the church of San Michele with the adjoining Palazzo Ducale.
