The patroness of Caraglio is Santa Maria Assunta, celebrated on 15 August. The parish church that bears her name is medieval in origin, but was rebuilt in the 18th century in Baroque style and only finished at the beginning of the 20th.
The town has a history of silk behind it: there were four spinning mills and a throwing mill employing more than six hundred people, a friendly society and a rural bank were founded, and in 1879 the Cuneo-Caraglio-Dronero tramway was inaugurated. From that season the Filatoio Rosso remains, today part of the Castelli Aperti circuit of southern Piedmont.
