Saint James, patron of the town of the Roero castle

Guarene celebrates Saint James on 25 July.
The castle mattered for its position, and was fought over for centuries. At the beginning of the eighteenth century it was destroyed, and on the ruins they raised the present building, classical in Juvarra's manner but drawn by count Giacinto Roero, that is by its owner.
In an eighteenth-century palace on piazza Roma the Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo opened its first home in 1997, and in 2019 it opened an art park on the hill of San Licerio, the first land art in the Langhe and the Roero.
