Saint Martin, patron of the land of the Brunate
📅 Every year, on 11 November
La Morra celebrates Saint Martin on 11 November, in the church dedicated to him.
The village was born on the hilltop when Alba Pompeia began clearing the surrounding hills, at the start of the second millennium. It was called Murra, which means sheepfold.
In 1402 the town gave itself its own statutes, and in those papers two vines appear for the first time in this country: Nebbiolo, written Nebiolium — the grape Barolo comes from — and Pignolo, Pignolium, which has since vanished from the hills of La Morra.
