Sanfrè

Province: Cuneo · Region: Piedmont · Population: 2,901 · Postal code: 12040

The town's arms carry a motto that translates as "the same for everyone", and it is there to state the equality of the citizens. Duke Vittorio Amedeo of Savoy granted it by an edict of 1687, and that same year it was handed over in Turin to the community's representatives.

The castle was raised by the Isnardi, bankers from Asti and marquises of Caraglio, between the thirteenth and the eighteenth century. Almost nothing is left of the old building: the Spaniards wrecked it in the middle of the sixteenth century, and what stands now is the lordly house rebuilt afterwards, looking over the Cuneo plain with the Alps behind.

Saints Peter and Paul, patrons of the town of the Hen Palio

📅 Every year, on 29 June, with the Palio dei Borghi and the Hen Palio

Sanfrè celebrates Saints Peter and Paul on 29 June: during the patronal feast, the Pro Loco organises games and attractions, including the Palio dei Borghi and the Hen Palio. At Christmas, for Epiphany, a living nativity scene is set up with 200 characters and old trades.
