The patron of Sant'Ambrogio di Torino is Saint John Vincent, the hermit who founded the Sacra di San Michele, the abbey that looks down on the village from the top of the mountain. The patronal feast is held on the Sunday nearest 21 November.
The saint who gave the village its name, Saint Ambrose, remains co-patron: the name probably arrived in the sixth century, with the Lombards. And that Lombard past is what the year's other occasion looks back to: since 2010, on the last Saturday of June, the village re-enacts the Battle of the Chiuse.
