Feast of San Germano
📅 Every year, on the first Sunday of September
On the first Sunday of September Lignana, a municipality of 579 inhabitants in the province of Vercelli, celebrates its patron San Germano.
Lignana lies in the Vercelli plain, on the historic Via Francigena route, which comes from Lamporo and Ronsecco and goes on to Vercelli. The village was a fief of the Corradi. In the hamlet of Veneria, inside the farmstead still standing and in use, Giuseppe De Santis shot the main scenes of Bitter Rice in 1949.
The parish church is dedicated to Saints Germanus and Christopher: small arches run under the gable of the pale front, the yellow flank stretches back to an older brick block, and the bell tower rises behind with its spire. The castle still stands in the village.
