Ronsecco

Province: Vercelli · Region: Piedmont · Population: 580 · Postal code: 13036

Ronsecco began as a cluster of huts, and the date remembered is 1209. The hamlet of Lachelle belonged to the abbey of Santo Stefano in Vercelli. The village lies on the historic route of the Via Francigena, coming from Lamporo and going on towards Lignana and Vercelli; of the medieval castle, local legends say ghosts live there.

Outside the village stands the sanctuary of Nostra Signora dei Viri Veri, a name that is the dialect corruption of the Latin Villae Veteris. It has a bell tower with a small dome and an arcaded portico along its flank; the parish church is dedicated to Saint Lawrence the martyr.
