Winding up through the Nebrodi Mountains, travellers encounter Floresta at 1,275 metres above sea level, the highest elevation of any municipality in Sicily. The mountain settlement opens up about 60 kilometres southwest of Messina.
With a population of 516, this high-altitude outpost lies 140 kilometres east of Palermo, bordering neighbouring mountain communities such as Randazzo, Montalbano Elicona, and Tortorici.
