The patron of Cannara is Saint Matthew, celebrated on 21 September; the liturgical celebrations in his honour run throughout the month alongside the Festa della cipolla.
Born in 1981, the Festa della cipolla is the highlight of September in Cannara, amid exhibitions, theatre, music and folklore: the Cannara onion is recognised as a traditional agri-food product and was once a Slow Food Presidium.
