The patrons of Alviano are Our Lady of the Assumption, celebrated on 15 August, and Saint Francis of Assisi, on 4 October. The church of Santa Maria Assunta, of medieval origin, was renewed in the early 16th century through the intervention of the condottiero Bartolomeo d'Alviano, who in 1506 also had it dedicated to Saints Peter and Paul; at the last altar on the right it holds a panel by Niccolò Alunno from 1484 depicting the Assumption of Mary surrounded by angels.
Not far away stands the 15th-century medieval castle Doria Pamphili, with a large Renaissance courtyard: inside are a chapel with 17th-century frescoes by Giuseppe Bastiani and three halls with mythological friezes and frescoes attributed to Pordenone, among the very few certain works by the painter in central Italy and evidence of his relationship with Raphael, particularly with the Madonna di Foligno.
