The patron saint of Attigliano is Saint Lawrence the Martyr, celebrated on 10 August. The church dedicated to him, of modern design and dating from 1983, has artistic stained glass made using mosaic and a bronze portal, the work of the sculptor Nadia Rognoni; in the garden facing the churchyard, a bronze monument by the sculptor Annita Mechelli represents the AVIS of Attigliano, one of the many associations active in the town.
At the start of the 13th century, Attigliano was drawn into wars for control of its strategically important castle, and Todi secured possession of it: until the 16th century the town was repeatedly the scene of wars and assaults, passing from the rule of Todi to that of the Holy See, then to Amelia, before finally coming under the condottiero Bartolomeo d'Alviano. It was his nephew Corrado, or Consolo, who built the Palazzo Baronale and the church of the Madonna del Porto, today the cemetery church. The town also preserves the church of the Madonna delle Grazie, built between the two World Wars on the outskirts of town, which houses a painting of the Madonna on a roof tile by an unknown artist, once a point of union and devotion for soldiers' families.
