San Venanzo celebrates its patron Saint Venantius the martyr on 18 May; the municipal territory sits on one of the three «bonsai volcanoes» identified by recent studies, and is home to venanzite, a volcanic rock unique in the world visible in an ancient quarry.

The patron saint of San Venanzo is Saint Venantius the martyr, celebrated on 18 May, in the church dedicated to him. From 1290 the territory belonged to the Monaldeschi of Orvieto, whose fortunes it followed until the prevalence of Church rule in the 16th century, remaining part of Orvieto's territory until 1929, when it became an autonomous municipality, absorbing the then-municipality of San Vito.

The town sits on one of the three «bonsai volcanoes» identified by recent studies, a geological rarity that has allowed the development of educational and environmental tourism with the opening, in 1999, of the volcanological park and museum: the museum's gem is venanzite, a volcanic rock unique in the world in its kind, observable on site in an ancient quarry which is the heart of the park, a genuine open-air museum. Every year, in the same-named park, the free «Incanto d'Estate» music festival is also held.
