Read more →On 5 September 1918, in a village of the Agno valley used as an airfield, the British command organised a horse show: the prizes were handed out by General Frederick Lambart, Earl of Cavan, who a few weeks later would lead his armies at Vittorio Veneto. The Trissino field had been in use since 1916 and for two years Italian, French and British squadrons took turns there.
The rest of the village lies higher up, on the hill of San Nicolò, where families would move for a few months a year to keep an eye on their estates: from there run via Nobile and the old lanes. The municipality has governed itself since a document of 1288, when the assembly of heads of household chose self-rule. On the bell tower of Sant'Andrea stands a wrought-iron archangel by Antonio Lora, a local smith.
