Feast of Saint Peter
📅 Every year, on 29 June
On 29 June Saint-Pierre celebrates its patron, Saint Peter, in the village overlooked by the castle that is one of the symbols of the Aosta Valley.
The castle of Saint-Pierre, perched above the hamlet of Tâche, is one of the most photographed sights in the Aosta Valley and houses the regional natural history museum. A second one stands nearby along the road to Villeneuve: the Sarriod de la Tour, seat of the family that shared the parish in the Middle Ages with the de Sancto Petro.
On the Châtelair hill archaeologists found clusters of dwellings dating to 3000 BC, among the earliest settlements in the region. The slope is one of the sunniest in the valley: the Torrette district gives its name to two local DOC wines, and the 3,112 residents also grow Canada russet apples.
